The Legend

The Concept

Legends and Fairytales is a true role playing  game. What is meant by that is that role playing (and having fun) is the most important aspect of the game. In other RPG’s your role playing is a nice bonus. It adds something to a story. But in a lot of cases, the player will not be rewarded for good RP.

This is what makes Legends and Fairytales so different. Because in this game, it is your role play and your  participation that will determine your success at the task at hand. Your role play and participation in the game have an actual and visible effect on the outcome and resolution of an in-game situation.

To increase the interactivity and creativity of the players, the limitation of numbers was in order. It is only human to interpret numbers as something you can do math with. Math is  important in life, but there is little room for it in a game. Math limits the creativity. Once you start playing Legends and Fairytales,  you will notice that there are only few numbers and even less math.

Your role play and participation in the game have an actual and visible effect on the outcome and resolution of an in-game situation.

“In the Beginning”

“In the Beginning”. The first book of a larger work called “Legends and Fairytales”. The wait is almost over. Now, we know it’s been a while since the release of the Demo. Admittedly, it has been longer than we would have liked. But somewhere along the line of developing and writing Legends and Fairytales, the world ran face first into a financial crisis. It hurt a lot of folks, in a lot of places. Including us. Simply put, until six weeks ago, The Hobby Dragon had not been able to secure financing for the production of “In the Beginning”. As a matter of fact, there was a time that was particularly grim. It even looked like Legends and Fairytales would never become a reality.

Certainly things haven’t gone as we had planned them. Things usually never do. But none of that matters right now. On the 21st of August, 2009, The Hobby Dragon was issued an ISBN number for “In the Beginning”, making The Hobby Dragon an official publisher. In just a few weeks time, “In the Beginning” will finally go to print. And a couple of weeks after that, it will be ready for world-wide release.
